Query Letters

I think that writing a query letter might be the hardest part of the whole “seeking representation” process.  What I want to say is, “Seriously…if you just read the novel, you’ll love it!”  Instead, I’m forced to try to sell my novel in a few sentences.  I guess that being successful at this proves that you have talent as a writer, but for now, it’s a challenge.

Today I sent out 9 queries.  I used Writer’s Market and queried agencies that represented the “thriller” genre and accepted e-mail queries.  Tomorrow, I will do some snail mail queries.  The time frame for responses varied from two days to two months, so it will be interesting to keep an eye on my inbox.
